Aba Nashville is opening in the Houston/Wedgewood neighborhood in the Summer of 2025! Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant with additional locations in Chicago, and Austin. Aba, meaning father in Hebrew, is a Mediterranean restaurant with a California influence. The menu features Chef CJ Jacobson’s modern approach to Mediterranean cooking and the beverage program showcases spirits and rare wines from lesser known Mediterranean regions.

Job Summary

Runs back of house (BOH) operations and shifts, including supervision of kitchen, dish and all other BOH teams as well as the preparation, presentation and service of menu items, including but not limited to overseeing linen and BOH uniform ordering; updating and maintaining side-work, organization and cleanliness for the line; leading BOH pre-shift meetings and preparations such as line, temperature and cooler checks; oversee all mid-and closing kitchen duties such as shift change; and contribute to inventory, ordering and controlling food and labor costs.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and oversee BOH operations, ensuring efficient food prep, cooking, and kitchen management.
  • Maintain proper food storage, quality, and presentation standards, including temperature control.
  • Coordinate with the GM and chefs to create prep lists and assign production duties.
  • Conduct line checks throughout the day to uphold food quality and safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and vendor deliveries.
  • Ensure BOH employees follow all sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Track and help control food costs while maintaining efficiency.
  • Facilitate clear communication between FOH and BOH regarding food production, timing, and special requests.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising BOH employees and kitchen teams.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Address repair and maintenance needs to keep kitchen operations running smoothly.
  • Work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and occasional travel.
  • Operate all necessary kitchen tools, equipment, and restaurant management software.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for entire shifts, and work in varied environmental conditions.
